Mr. William C. Van Thunen, CPCU, CPD, RPA
is the Chairman of Daynard and Van Thunen
Co., Inc. and a licensed General Adjuster.
Mr. Van Thunen graduated in 1975 from the
College of Commerce and Finance (now The
Villanova School of Business) at Villanova
University earning a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Economics. He attended The College
of Insurance earning various credits in
Property Insurance Contracts, Liability
Insurance Contracts, Inland and Ocean Marine
Contracts and Business Interruption Coverages.
Mr. Van Thunen attended Vale
Technical Institute, earning a Certificate
of Building Damage Estimating in 1976.
Mr. Van Thunen became a rated adjuster by the
New York Board of Fire Underwriters’
Committee of Losses and Adjustments in 1977.
He obtained his New York General Adjusters
license in 1976, Connecticut General Adjusters
license in 1999, Florida General Adjusters
license in 2000, Alabama General Adjusters
license in 2005, and Texas Adjusters license in 2008.
Mr. Van Thunen received his CPCU designation
from the American
Institute of Chartered Property and Casualty
Underwriters in 1984. He
received the Registered Professional Adjuster’s
designation in 2001.
Mr. Van Thunen was elected President of
the New Jersey Independent
Adjusters Association in 1982 and has participated
in numerous claim
industry functions including the Loss Executives
Association
Educational Seminars, Property Loss Research
Bureau Conferences, Fraud
and Arson Workshops and has earned certificates
in Engineering and
Building Damage Appraisal. He is a member
of the Loss Executives
Association, National Association of Independent
Insurance Adjusters
and New York Independent Insurance Adjusters
Association. Mr. Van
Thunen has been appointed as an Appraiser,
Umpire and Mediator in
contractually demanded Appraisals and Arbitrations.
In 2008, he was designated as a Certified Wind Umpire by the
Windstorm Insurance Network, Inc.

TERRY S. LUBIN | President
Mr. Terry S. Lubin graduated from City College of New York
earning a Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1972 and began working as
a property & Liability Field Claim Representative at Liberty
Mutual Insurance Company in New York City. He became a Property
Claims Supervisor at Hartford Insurance Company in 1976.
Mr. Lubin holds a Building Damage Estimating Certificate from
Vale Technical Institute. He obtained his New York General
Adjuster license in 1980, Connecticut General Adjuster License
in 2005, Florida and Alabama General Adjuster licenses in 2008.
Mr. Lubin is a former Treasurer of the New York Property Loss
Association. He is a member of the Loss Executives Association,
the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters and
the New York Association of Independent Adjusters and an active
participant of the annual Property Loss Research Bureau
Conferences.
Mr. Lubin has achieved an outstanding reputation in handling all
lines of large and complex commercial property loss adjustments,
representing virtually all the major property insurers in the
insurance industry.
Mr. Lubin joined Daynard & Van Thunen Co., Inc. as a licensed
General Adjuster in 1980 and was promoted to Vice President in
1990. He is currently the President & Executive General
Adjuster.
EDWARD P. KIRBY, AIC, CFI | Sr. Vice President
Mr. Edward P. Kirby, AIC, CFI is a Senior Vice President of
Daynard and Van Thunen Company Inc. and a licensed General
Adjuster. Mr. Kirby graduated from St. Johns University (College
of Business Administration) in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of
Science degree with a major in Marketing and minor in Economics.
Mr. Kirby began his career with Republic Insurance Company in
1987. He attended the Insurance Technical Training Institute (ITTI)
in Dallas, Texas and earned a Certificate of Building Damage
Estimating. He joined Daynard and Van Thunen in 1990.
A respected member of the industry Ed has earned an Associate’s
In Claims designation (AIC) and a Certificate of Fire Training
(CFI) from New York State. Through a Continuing Education
program (including Loss Executives Association, educational
seminars, Property Loss Research Bureau Conferences), he has
maintained a General Adjusting licenses in multiple states.
Mr. Kirby has attended a variety of seminars and workshops
including Fraud and Arson, Inland and Ocean Marine, Boiler and
Machinery and Mold. Mr. Kirby has lectured at seminars covering
a variety of topics including Risk Management, Loss
Investigation, and estimating Damage Estimating.
ALBERT E. CASTRO | Vice President
Mr.Albert E. Castro is a Vice President of Daynard and Van
Thunen Co. Inc.
Mr. Albert Castro graduated in 1976 from Queens College earning
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He also attended
the College of Insurance earning various credits in Property
Contracts, Business Interruption Coverage, Time Element
Adjusting, and Inland Marine.
Tenure and Positions at Crum & Forster when he began at DVT.
Mr. Castro has attended various workshops and earned
certificates in the detection and investigation of arson;
Building Damage Appraisal, Transportation Insurance Law;
Subrogation Procedures; and Fidelity claims. He is a frequent
attendee of the Property Loss Research Bureau Conferences; he
maintains General Adjusting licenses in multiple states.
He has prepared income tax returns; has owned and managed real
estate commercial properties; and has owned a cleaning business.
This enabled him to be proficient in building damage estimating;
and the handling of building and business interruption losses.

WARREN F. VAN THUNEN | Founder,
Chairman Emeritus
Mr. Van hunen is one of the founders of Daynard & Van Thunen
Co.,
Inc. and an active member of the firm. For over 50 years, Mr.
Van
Thunen has handled and managed thousands of property insurance
claims
of all types and complexities.
Warren is a member of the National Association of Independent
Adjusters, New York State Independent Adjusters Association and
the
Loss Executives’ Association, and assists with day-to-day
administrative and management duties of the company.
HAROLD S. DAYNARD | Founder
Mr. Daynard received B.A. and LL.B. degrees from New York
University
Undergraduate and Law Schools and was admitted to the New York
and
Federal Bars. Mr. Daynard organized the independent adjustment
firm of
Harold S. Daynard which in 1953 merged with Warren F. Van Thunen
Co.
Adjusters to form Daynard & Van Thunen Co., Inc. Mr. Daynard
retired
in 1988.
